1. Introduction of  BS 6701B

BS 6701B is a British Standard for low voltage LSOH cables. Also know as 2491B

BS6701B is a flexible, flame retardant panel wire that is used for applications where smoke and toxic fumes from a fire could threaten life or equipment. It is also used for:

  • Panel wiring
  • Switch control, relay, and instrumentation panels
  • Internal connectors in rectifier equipment, motor starters, and controllers
  • Internal wiring of appliances with maximum operating temperatures of +90C 
BS 6701B  has the following specifications:
  • Construction:Plain annealed Class 5 Copper conductor
  • Temperature rating: 90°C
  • Voltage rating: 300/500V  450/750V
  • Insulation: Cross-linked LSZH Insulation

Single core 6701B flexible cable is  used for wiring appliances and for use in metering and switchgear. Due to the low smoke zero halogen outer sheath they can be used in areas of high pedestrian footfall such as hospitals, supermarkets, airports and offices where toxic fumes and emissions would be a health hazard. The flexible single core cable features flexible plain annealed copper conductor and an LSZH outer sheath.
